Not cool? whacha talking about

So obviously I did not go to all four years of high school in carolina. If so I would be just like all the other haters out there. What am I talking about. Here let me start at the beginning. In 1998, I was in the 3rd grade, Pokemon Red and Blue came out. Everyone.... EVERYONE got these games and played them. Guys, girls, transexuals it transcended all genders and everyone loved it.

Than it was was followed by pokemon yellow the game that followed the TV show more closely and once again it was gobbled up by the american public. I own all three. Than the 2nd generation came out with gold, silver and Crystal. It was still huge but the original age group that bought the first one started to cast off this game. By the 3rd generation with Ruby, sapphire, and emerald the original pokemon generation had moved onto halo and psp's and left the games for the younger kids.

Well not everywhere. When the Nintendo DS came out I noticed a few of my classmates had gotten them but thought nothing of it. Until one day I sat down in my first period and the guy next to me was playing pokemon. A game I had not seen in a long time. I looked over and said "Kyle what are you doing" he replayed "battling Blake." I was confused I said "Blake? but he is not in this class and you don't have a link cable how are you doing such a thing" well turns out the game using the DS lets you battle wirelessly almost anywhere in the world.

Before the week was out I found at least two people in EVERY SIGNLE one of my classes had this new pokemon game. So I jumped on the trend and bought a DS and a game. Now for the reminder of the year we had intense pokemon battles through out school and after school. My most epic one I remember driving to someones house to have a tourment and not once did anyone ever say it was "uncool" or "lame" it was the thing to be playing at RRHS.

Now I moved back to North Carolina senior year and apparently Pokemon was lame there... No one had the new ones on DS and the kids that did were the ones in yu-gi-oh card clubs and what not... Not the kind of kids I could hold a conversation with. Although everyone loved their PSP games and their Halo 3 yet Pokemon was "lame" or "stupid".

Why is it dumb? Halo 3's story takes maybe 10-12 hours to beat on the hardest setting. Pokemon has no hardest setting and you can easily rack up anywhere from 50-80 hours play time just beating the story alone. Sure you can do it faster but if you are just a casual gamer it would take weeks to beat it. Than to complete the game 100% would take 100's of hours. Yet it is still dumb. In my opinion it is one of the greatest handhelds ever made. Sure Halo 3 has good multiplayer but you cant compare that to pokemon for there is not Massive Multiplayer game on the DS or any handheld for that matter.

I still believe full heartedly even though I own Halo 3, GTA4, every new BLOCKBUSTER game that Pokemon is the greatest game ever made. I still play pokemon blue and Yellow. (not red Idk I never liked red) and I dabble in the Gameboy color and game boy advance versions.

A few weeks ago I got the new Pokemon Platinum. I now own every pokemon game made on the Gameboy system. I found two friends that also have the new version one right here at UNCW and one at my old high school. Now I bet your thinking "HA what nerds actually buy this game" yet if you met either of these guys you would never guess that every night me and them have pokemon battles.

So if you have the game hit me up and we can battle. If you think its lame I will gladly debate you on this subject. If you think your name is cooler than mine we can debate about that too.

Too everyone else- have a blessed night
